Hi there! My name is Sophia, since 2015 I am running my  B&B Villa Kakelbont.

Time flies, almost my 5th season now as B&B owner. Since I started I have learnt a lot. Throughout the time I’ve made adjustments to offer better comfort to my guests.

I gladly welcome you into my home for a comfortable and memorable stay.

My lavish garden is my passion and as a result you’ll often find a little bouquet of fresh flowers in your room.

I just love a relaxing walk with my dog Tinky. She is a super sweet black Labrador, 7 year old. Are you afraid of dogs? No worries! I’ll make sure she keeps her distance.

Another one of my hobbies is baking and trying out new recipes. My delicious homemade sourdough bread is one of the standards for breakfast.

Travelling and meanwhile staying at B&B are a very enjoyable and tuturial experience to me.

Add so now or than a funk or jazz concert, a drink with friends or my guests, and I am a very satisfied and happy person.

See you soon!

B&B Villa kakelbont Borgloon
Villa Kakelbont

Our cosy B&B (dated 1956) is peacefully located at Oude Berg 5 in the center of Borgloon.

The garden guest terrace provides an ideal opportunity to relax and enjoy the natural landscaped flower garden. Depending on the season you will find yourself amongst blossoming  lilac’s, hydrangea’s, roses, acacia’s, magnolia’s, sunflowers etc.. Who knows, you may be surprised with a homemade cake of edible flowers.

There are 3 spacious double rooms. “Pippi” on the ground level comes with its very own luxurious bathroom. On the 1st floor, “Nilsson” and “Witje” share a bathroom (incase both rooms are occupied).  There is the possibility to add an extra bed to “Nilsson”.

Several marked hiking trails (3, 5, 8 and 12 km) pass through our street. You’re only a few minutes away from taking a stroll through the fields or visiting the famous see-through church “Reading between the lines”. An absolute must see! The Limburg cycling route network is just at the end of our street. We have 2 electric bikes for rent. Be sure to book them well in advance.

There are 2 parking spaces on site. Should they be occupied, P1 de Graaf (300 m) is at your disposal. If your mobility is somehow impeded, I’ll gladly reserve one of our on-site parking spaces for you. Make sure to book “Pippi” as well since it is at ground level.

I warmly welcome you to my B&B and will happily serve a delicious homemade breakfast.

The small print: dogs are not allowed. Smoking is forbidden, however there is an ashtray in the garden. Wi-Fi is available throughout the entire building.

You’ll find yourself walking through hollow roads in a picturesque hillside scenery. From April until late May, the landscape, consisting of cornfields and blossoming trees, creates magical moments. In the harvest months, the branches of the trees bend under the weight of ripe fruit. An old Roman road, a few authentic farmhouses, scenic nature, old orchards, ... All the best things for a walking trip from Borgloon.

Borgloon is a walkers paradise. First of all, there are the marked hiking trails of 3, 5, 8 and 12 km. These trails take you to a number of open-air artworks. E.g. The Roman houses, the famous see-through Church from Gijs Van Vaerenbergh and the art installation “Twijfelgrens”. Make sure to take a detour to see the trees with the attached unique tear shaped tents.

Furthermore, we have a genuine Haspengouw GR passing through Borgloon. The Haspengouw GR is a loop throughout the region of Haspengouw. The length is 182 km. The main route is 130 km. There are 52 km of intersections to make shorter loops. We have a map of this route at your disposal.

The GR 564 and GR 128 are just about 1 km away.

GR 564 starts at Lommel, passes through Hoei and is intersected by GR 128 in Borgloon. GR 128 takes you from Maastricht to Belle.

Fietsen

Fancy a day of cycling? The cycling route network passes through Borgloon.

Villa Kakelbont is located between Node numbers 154 and 151. You can use the nodes in mapping out your own cycling experience.

The more experienced cyclist could even make it all the way to “cycling through the water”.

By car

There are 4 Haspengouw routes to follow. Each loop has its own individuality, they lead you through rolling landscapes, past fruit plantations, golden yellow fields, picturesque villages, stately castles and square farms.
